As soon as we saw Agnes waiting for us in the hotel lobby we knew we were going to have a great day. She is so smart, funny, and personable. She made us feel so comfortable as if we were long lost friends and she was eager to show us where she lived. As we moved around the city, it was obvious how well regarded Agnes is; many locals came up to greet her warmly, especially at the market and the youth organization in Kliptown. She has a wealth of historical and factual information at her fingertips but what makes her so special is her willingness to put that historical information in context with her personal experience growing up in Johannesburg during the apartheid years. The best part of traveling is when you can connect with someone from a different part of the world than your own. And, with Agnes, you get the benefit of her kindness and intelligence.

Agnes helped us with contacts in Tanzania and I must openly say that all people whom we met were so great! Starting from Zanzibar hotels and finishing our final drive to the airport. It means a lot when everybody tries to help in different cases and shows respect to the organisers. Prior I was impressed with the great email communication when organizing the tour. A+ service all around!

Agnes was knowledgable, personable, and professional. I never felt unsafe in the area or with her at all. She gave great recommendations for traveling around the area and South Africa as well.

Agnes also knows a lot of the locals and seems respected, especially in the markets. I can see why - she always makes you feel like you are welcome and a friend 🙂

My favorite part of the tour was visiting the Kliptown Youth Program. You can really see how Soweto is struggling but also how improvements are being made, thanks to our donations and the help of others. It was very inspiring!
